Food Fight......

The tomatoes, healthy, not even close to being ripe, tomatoes!

It is sad that the state of our food quality is so bad. People with low incomes have to make choices on foods that are cheap but not nutritious. Diabetes runs wild, largely because of corn syrup, killing several thousands of people every year. What is just as bad is that it effects the middle class just about as much. People, like myself, sacrifice food quality for convenience. I was thinking today while sitting in my chair eating a Hot Pocket, (yes, that's right, a Hot Pocketless) how much crap I'm putting into my body.

The curious ingredients (sample, not complete):

Cooked White Chicken Meat (sounds good so far), chopped & formed, binders added (uh, not anymore)

Imitation Cheddar Cheese (I just ate imitation cheddar cheese)

Cheese Seasoning (Ah, to make the imitation cheese taste better, more like cheese.)

Imitation Mozzarella Cheese (It keeps getting better.)

Soybean Oil (Isn't that bad for you??)

And so on, and so on, and so on.........You get the picture.

No wonder we are getting sick and fat. I guess this is part of our motivation to grow and produce healthy, sustainable food. People deserve a better option.

See ya, oh yeah, a quote:

"Those who labour in the earth are the chosen people of God, if ever he had a chosen people, whose breasts he has made his peculiar deposit for substantial and genuine virtue. It is the focus in which he keeps alive that sacred fire, which otherwise might escape from the face of the earth." Thomas Jefferson 1781
